What is the difference between preserved and dried hydrangeas?

Drying removes almost all moisture from the bloom. The result is a brittle, papery head with significantly faded colour. Dried hydrangeas crumble easily and look like they belong in a country cottage, not a refined interior.

Preservation replaces the moisture with a stabilising glycerin solution. The bloom holds its full volume, the petals stay soft and pliable, and the colour stays rich. The visual difference is significant. If you want something that looks like a fresh hydrangea, only preservation achieves that.

Do preserved hydrangeas need any maintenance?

Four rules and nothing else. Do not water them. Keep away from direct sunlight. Avoid high humidity environments like a running shower. If dust settles after several months, remove it with a soft dry brush or cool air from a hairdryer at a distance.
