Preserved Trees
Real trunks and preserved foliage, chosen for the room and set in the planter that suits it. A tree that stays full in a lobby with no window, with no water and no falling leaves.
A tree that suits the room, not the window.
Living indoor trees need strong light, careful watering, and a spot they are never moved from. Most lobbies and offices cannot give them that, and the tree drops its leaves within a season. A preserved tree is a real tree: a natural trunk and branches, with foliage preserved at its peak. It needs no water and no daylight, so it can stand by the elevators, in a corner office, or under a stair, and still look full years later.
Where they work
Where a preserved tree makes sense.
A tree changes a room in a way a planter cannot: it adds height, marks a place, and gives the eye somewhere to rest.
-
01
Lobbies and receptions with little or no daylight
-
02
Double-height spaces and stairwells that need height
-
03
Corner offices and lounges, where a living tree gets moved and declines
-
04
Restaurants and hotels, where falling leaves are a problem
-
05
Homes: an entryway, a corner of the living room, a landing
01 — The trees
Three shapes, sized to the room.
We choose each tree for the room it is going into, and size it to the ceiling and the sightline.
01Olive
Silver-green leaves on a natural trunk. Soft and relaxed, at home in a lobby, a lounge, or a dining room.
02Cloud-pruned
Foliage in rounded clouds on a sculptural trunk. It reads as a piece of art beside a desk or a window.
03Pairs and groups
A tall tree with smaller ones beside it, or a run along a wall, so the planting reads as one scheme.
02 — Tree and planter
Tree and planter, as one piece.
A tree is only as good as what it stands in. We choose the planter with the tree, and it arrives as one finished piece.
- Planter
- From our planter collection, in matte white, satin beige, matte charcoal, or matte black, or the planter your designer specifies.
- Base
- Finished with preserved moss, so the top of the planter looks complete.
- Height
- Set by the ceiling, the sightline, and the planter, and by what fits through the doors and elevators.
- Your own planter
- Send its inside dimensions and we fit the tree to it.
03 — In place

Lounge04 — Care and lifespan
What a preserved tree needs.
- Lifespan
- Up to 5 years indoors.
- Light
- None needed. Keep it out of direct sun, which fades the leaves.
- Water
- None. Never water a preserved tree.
- Air
- Indoors, at normal room humidity, away from heaters and air vents.
- Care
- Now and then, a soft feather duster, or a hair dryer on the cool setting held well back.
- Handling
- No seasonal leaf drop. Move it by the planter, not the branches.
05 — How it works
Measure, choose, prepare, place.
A photo of the spot and the ceiling height are enough to start.
-
01

Tree questions
Before the tree arrives.
Plain answers on the trees, their size, and their care.
Is a preserved tree real?
Yes. A natural trunk and branches, with real foliage preserved at its peak. It is not plastic or silk.
How tall can a tree be?
We size each tree to the space. Tell us the ceiling height and how the tree gets in: doors, elevators, and stairs set the limit as often as the ceiling does.
Does it need light or water?
Neither. No daylight and no water, ever. Direct sun fades the leaves.
How long does it last?
Up to 5 years indoors, out of direct sun and away from heaters and vents.
Can a tree go outside?
No. Preserved trees are for indoor rooms only.
Can we use our own planter?
Yes. Send its inside dimensions and we fit the tree to it.
Do you deliver outside New York?
We design, make, and install from our New York studio. For a project further away, tell us where it is and we will tell you what is possible.
Plan a tree
Tell us about the space.
A photo of the spot, the ceiling height, and the address are enough to start. We reply with a tree, a planter, and the next steps.
